Taking Part in The Big Hike

Cancer Research UK was founded in 2002 and is the largest independent cancer charity that aims to save lives through research, influence and information.

The charity organises events regularly – such as the Race for Life, Charity Runs and the Big Hike – to raise awareness and fund research.

The Big Hike is a series of full and half marathon hiking challenges for both new and experienced walkers. The event allows the charity to raise money for research and takes place in 4 beautiful locations across the UK:

Loch Lomond

The banks of Loch Lomond offer amazing views of lovely villages, rolling countryside and stunning hills.

Peak District

The Peak District National Park in central England is famous for its stunning natural beauty. You will discover hidden gems and magnificent woodlands, waterfalls and cliffs along the way.

Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding rocks, fossils and landforms. This is a fantastic place for hiking in Dorset.

South Coast

The journey will take you through grasslands and villages, along riverbanks and coastal paths where you’ll get to enjoy spectacular views from Beachy Head.

These locations offer splendid settings for the Big Hike, allowing participants to embrace the beauty of the UK while building strong team spirit and supporting cancer research.

“This year, the Mediascape team took part in the Big Hike at Loch Lomond, a beautifully scenic half marathon from Drymen, past Loch Lomond, over Conic Hill and back to Drymen,” says Niall MacDonald, Managing Director. “It was a stunning day, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the wee wander. More importantly, we proudly raised over £3,000 for Cancer Research, a very worthy charity. The big lesson for the day was to do a bit more training for next year! Well done to the team!”
