The Brief

Scottish Renewables, the “voice of Scotland’s renewable energy industry,” tasked Mediascape with creating a video conferencing set-up. The audiovisual (AV) configuration needed to be flexible and suitable for multifunctional meetings, such as long boardroom and theatre-style.

Challenges

The room was formerly an open-plan space with significant room reverberation, which negatively impacted the acoustics of audio in the room.

There was also no facility for floor cabling, so we needed to find an alternative solution that would meet technology requirements while minimising trip hazards and ensuring a visually “clean” and professional aesthetic.

Solutions

Besides the main display, we positioned two additional screens in the room to ensure clear presentation visibility to all attendees, regardless of the room configuration. We also installed two cameras, making the room suitable for hybrid streaming. 

With a spread of ceiling microphone arrays and pendant ceiling speakers with appropriate audio processing, we were able to provide even and clear microphone pickup and playback across the space whilst minimising audio reflections and reverberations.

By using the Yealink PA20 conference presentation pod, the client also has the convenience of wireless content sharing for presentations and Teams calls, with no trailing cables.

Outcomes

We were successfully able to create a video conferencing solution that was fit for purpose, minimised room reverberations, and visually appealing as a professional meeting environment. 

At Mediascape, we don’t just set up your audiovisual requirements, then leave you in the dark. We believe in providing excellent customer service and client reassurance. So, as well as providing full training on the system by scanning a bar code, we gave the client access to a full user guide created by Mediascape and tailored to their own system.
