April 30th marked the third rendition of Mediascape’s popular Tech Day, and we have to say, we think it was our best one yet! From our standout exhibitors to creative gamification, here are some of our highlights from the day.

A Warm Welcome

When you walk into the room at Mediascape’s Tech Day, it’s like getting a head start on the future. A warm welcome at the door saw attendees equipped with the classic conference tote bag, as well as a not-so-classic lanyard. What was different about it? Gamification! With the QR code on the lanyard, participants could complete app challenges, connect with exhibitors, and put themselves in the running for leaderboard prizes. We’ve heard many enjoyed looking for and getting to meet Ryan!

With 42 exhibitors and nearly 500 people in attendance, the space buzzed with conversation and connections – both digital and face-to-face. The Glasgow Marriott Hotel was an outstanding venue, providing a welcoming space where attendees could enjoy some networking over coffee and pastries before moving through to the exhibition.

The Exhibition

The exhibition room was a playground for tech lovers, a rare opportunity to see the most up-to-date audiovisual offerings all in one place. In a room full of audiovisual equipment, it was impressive to see how distinctive each product was.

Some of the offerings included cutting-edge screens, like ViewSonic’s foldable LEDs for flexible operations, and huge, interactive walls by Samsung Electronics that couldn’t help catching the eye of passers-by. Other solutions were designed with subtlety in mind, like expertly designed furniture from TOP-TEC that works so seamlessly with meeting setups that you hardly know it is there or sound-masking booths that remove the risk of noise disruption during important meetings.

For businesses looking to upgrade small to medium meeting spaces, Owl Labs showcased their portable 360° camera that highlights everyone at the table with equal clarity. Then there was Huddly video-conferencing equipment, which uses AI-assisted cameras to make hybrid meetings feel more human (the speaker system was particularly impressive).

“It’s been an absolutely fantastic event; we’ve had a great day! We’ve met a lot of new customers, and we’ve been able to showcase our technology and tell everybody out there about our USPs.”

For larger auditoriums and meeting spaces, Aver and Yealink provide AI-based solutions that support multi-camera autotracking for wider room coverage and clearer audio pick-up – unobtrusive for those in the room while allowing remote attendees to clearly follow the flow of the event.

Gamification

The gamification component of the conference was something that many of our attendees appreciated. With the QR code on the lanyard, participants could complete app challenges, connect with exhibitors, and put themselves in the running for leaderboard prizes. We’ve heard many enjoyed looking for and getting to meet Ryan!

“We’ve been to a few of these events but have never seen the app used in this way; typically you have them for just badges, but this incentivises you to talk to more people, and the gamification makes it honestly quite fun! We’ve had a great time actually.”

Speaker Sessions

The speaker sessions were conducted with silent disco technology that allowed participants to clearly hear the speaker through headphones, while the exhibition continued in the background. This supported us in making good use of the space without speaker sessions disrupting exhibitor conversations and vice versa.

Industry expertise shared included presentations like “Stop the Scroll: Winning the Battle for Eyeballs in a Distracted World” by Cameron Mills of Allsee and how to create a “Unified Digital Signage Ecosystem” by James Millar of Clevertouch

Bharat K, Business Development Manager at Black Box, shared his impressions on LinkedIn after the event:

“It was such a wonderful day, and I truly appreciate having been part of the event. A big thank you to all the staff at Mediascape Ltd, the exhibitors, presenters, and visitors for creating a fantastic networking experience for Black Box and everyone who joined us!”
