The Brief

During the Covid pandemic, religious services were put on hold as people remained indoors to help slow the spread of the disease, this led to religious institutions all over the country incorporating audio visual solutions into their services. As we move out of the pandemic we have realised that for many churchgoers who still find it difficult to physically make the journey to services, due to illness, location or age – AV solutions can be hugely helpful. 

Challenges

The church required a fully immersive experience that made the congregation feel like they were involved in the church’s celebrations. This solution needed to apply to Sunday service as well as other services such as weddings, christenings, and all other relevant church events. This experience had to be two-way, meaning anybody attending the virtual event had to be able to interact and communicate with the person holding the service and the other attendees. Tony Hoskins and Colin Herd (pictured here) were tasked by the church to come up with a solution that met the criteria.

Solutions

Mediascape design supplied & installed a full AV solution consisting of cameras, microphones, and mixing decks that were integrated with existing church equipment to create a fully immersive experience. Our equipment makes the service, church organ, and choir fully audible and visible virtually with acoustically positioned microphones and cameras. The whole set-up is controlled by a laptop that is used to manipulate audio and camera angles to give the optimal experience.
