Digital Projection FAQ

With passion and purpose, we work closely with our customers, integrating innovative and intelligent approaches to your digital projection needs.

What is a digital projection system?

A digital projection system is a type of technology used to present multimedia content on a screen or surface.

It typically involves the use of a digital projector, which is a device that projects an image from a computer or other electronic device onto a screen or wall using either a digital light processing (DLP) chip or liquid crystal display (LCD) technology.

Digital projection is suitable for a wide range of settings, including movie theatres, conference rooms, classrooms, and other public spaces where a large image needs to be displayed. They offer a good alternative to traditional film projection systems and come with many benefits, including higher resolution, brighter images, and the ability to display a variety of colours.

What are the types of digital projector?

There is a digital projection solution for every purpose. You can choose the right one from many options including:

  • Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors: They use a DLP chip, which is made up of millions of tiny mirrors that reflect light through a colour wheel to produce an image. DLP projectors are known for their fast refresh rates and good colour accuracy, making them a popular choice for home theatre systems and business presentations.
  • Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projectors: They project light through a transparent LCD panel, composed of tiny liquid crystals that can block or transmit light. LCD projectors are generally less expensive than DLP projectors, but they may not have as high a contrast ratio or colour accuracy.
  • Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) projectors: These projectors combine LCD and DLP technology to display an image. They feature high contrast ratios and good colour accuracy, but they can be more expensive than other types of projectors.
  • Light Emitting Diode (LED) projectors: They use LED technology to project an image. Their energy efficiency and long lamp life make them a good choice for your business, but depending on your requirements, their brightness or contrast ratio might not be suitable for all your projects.
  • Laser projectors: As their name implies, a laser produces an image. If you’re looking for high brightness, long lamp life, and good colour accuracy, you might want to consider this type of projector depending on your budget, as they can be more expensive than other ones.

What are the advantages to digital projection?

There are several advantages to using digital projection over traditional film projection, including:

  • Higher resolution: Digital projection systems display images with a higher resolution than traditional film projection systems, which means that the image will be clearer and more detailed. It enhances customers’ experience and engagement.
  • Brighter images: Digital projectors can be used in many lighting conditions as they produce brighter images.
  • A wider range of colours: The image will be more vibrant when using a digital projector rather than film projection.
  • Cost savings: Digital projection systems are cost-effective as they don’t require the use of physical film. Film projectors are expensive and need to be replaced periodically, which makes digital projection a better option in the long run.
  • Flexibility: Digital projection systems are more flexible than traditional film projection systems because they can easily be connected to different tools, such as computers and streaming devices. A digital projector allows you to display a variety of different content.
